FENCELINE MONITORING
Currently, there are required fenceline monitoring programs for ambient benzene concentrations.
ExxonMobil has installed benzene monitors along the perimeter of all its U.S. refineries and specific chemical sites. All monitoring data is submitted to the EPA, and specifically for our chemical plants, monitoring data is uploaded to a public website hosted by the company.
For each sampling period, the difference between the highest and lowest readings are used to calculate the concentration for that two-week period.
