Founded in 2021, with a multi-billion-dollar investment and joint venture with SABIC and ExxonMobil – GCGV is a world-class petrochemical complex that produces the building blocks of everyday products used around the world.
The facility includes a 1.8 million metric ton ethane steam cracker that produces ethylene, which then feeds three derivative units: one monoethylene glycol unit and two polyethylene units. These materials are used in everyday products, such as, food packaging, polyester fabrics, liquid containers, packaging, bottles and containers and agricultural film.

Environment
We are safe, responsible stewards of our hydrocarbons, and our SH&E commitment is integrated into the facility design, present in our operating procedures and upheld through our investment in protecting our shared environment.
Our commitment to environmental stewardship extends beyond the fence line. We consult with local experts to guide our stewardship efforts and collaborate with organizations like the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program to support habitat restoration projects and research and environmental education programs.
Leading in Emergency Response
We maintain a highly experienced team and a suite of resources to ensure we are the safest facility we can be – a leader in local emergency planning. Through coordination and participation in regional emergency response drills and maintaining regular communication with local first responders, we are advancing emergency preparedness in the Coastal Bend.
In 2024, we hosted a collaborative emergency response drill with San Patricio and Nueces counties’ local officials and first responders. As well as received the Elite Gold Safety Award from the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers, an award only presented to the top 5% of companies.
