“Sarlo: N.J. shouldn’t focus on a single energy source or utility costs will continue to climb.”
“Sarlo: N.J. shouldn’t focus on a single energy source or utility costs will continue to climb.
In the midst of another cold, snowy New Jersey winter, we’re reminded daily of how essential energy is to power our homes and keep our families warm.
But our homes don’t run on wishful thinking. They run on reliable energy that comes from a mix of energy sources working together to meet demand.
New Jersey is facing a major energy crisis, and there’s no time for partisan debate. The cost to heat a home in the U.S. is expected to increase 9.2% this winter, and New Jersey has some of the highest energy bills in the country. With power bills up another 20% this past summer, we need to act swiftly.
Gov. Mikie Sherrill has declared a state of emergency on utility costs, as the state confronts rising energy prices. But in addition to short-term solutions, we need a comprehensive long-term strategy built on a balanced mix of energy sources.”
